Status: Full-time, 12 months
Schedule: M-F 8am to 4pm/Follows events calendar as necessary, but some flexibility to work occasional evenings and select weekends
Position requirements: Bachelors required with a minimum of 4 years in school communications or other business experience. Superior editorial judgment, high attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy. Well-versed in social media strategy and management; strong experience and creativity in storytelling, content creation, and production for web, social channels, newsletters, digital and print marketing and communication. Experience managing websites, including SEO/SEM and management, Google Analytics, and other digital best practices. Strong video editing expertise (Adobe Spark, Premiere Pro, We Video, or other video editing) a plus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple constituencies with exceptional initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills. Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to follow through with multi-task projects. Experience and skill developing priorities to manage multiple deadlines and a complex calendar of assignments. Experience managing and building an academic institution’s reputation. Skill with employing discretion in the handling of sensitive information. Experience and skill working directly with the public. Position Summary: The Marketing and Communications Manager will have the responsibility overseeing Oakcrest’s communication system to all external stakeholders. This position will include the design, editing, development and implementation of strong communication and marketing strategies. It is an opportunity to craft telling the story of Oakcrest’s mission as it is lived in daily experiences of our community members and to set the standard for female Catholic education in Northern Virginia. This position will require helping various departments develop strategic communication plans, creating content for marketing initiatives, and editing content to offer professional engagement with Oakcrest’s community that reflects our commitment to excellence in all we pursue.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce engaging written and visual content to bring Oakcrest's mission to life for the website, social media, newsletters, and other digital channels, as well as print publications.
- Oversee all Communications Office print/digital publications and website content, including weekly and monthly newsletters and family communications (e.g., Back-to-School mailings, Divisional updates).
- Coordinate content publication across platforms.
- Manage communications content calendar, highlighting content from all internal departments (Academics, Admissions, Student Life, Parent Support, Advancement, College Counseling, and Alumnae Relations).
- Support and collaborate with departments, including Admissions and Development, to advise on, schedule the cadence of, and edit their communication content and/or marketing materials; provide editing expertise for communications projects, in alignment with the Oakcrest style guide.
- Design ads for printed newspapers and digital platforms.
- Design brochures for admissions, advancement, and summer programs.
- Social media account management, including gathering/creating content, managing social media schedule
- Curate and cover school events, including photos and write-ups for website, social media, newsletters, etc; coordinate with internal departments.
- Manage school website, including page updates and regular fresh content; utilize best practices for website management, including SEO/SEM
- Edit videos and podcasts to post across all marketing channels
- Manage podcast channel and all recordings
- Serve as in-house photographer to capture and highlight the life of the school
- Serve as managing editor and lead writer for website and annual newsmagazine, Oakleaf, including:
- Identify stories that convey Oakcrest’s mission and how our community embodies our core values,
- Edit content and work with a designer to develop magazine layout and spreads, and
- Coordinate and edit magazine inputs from other departments.
- Ensure Oakcrest branding is used throughout any external materials published by the school; work with other departments, such as Visual and Performing Arts and Athletics to ensure branding consistency.
