McGowan Family Athletic Center

The McGowan Family Athletic Center features five additional classrooms as well as two staff offices. The additional academic space provides Oakcrest with the resources that it needs to hold each growing class.

The gym was designed with a floating wood floor for maximum performance and safety for the athletes. With courts and locker rooms to host games as well as conduct team practices, the gym also features an automated bleacher system can seat over 230 spectators.

McGowan Family Athletic Center Features

Fitness Center

A fitness center overlooks the gym and includes weight room equipment from Sorinex, intentionally designed for a group of students to improve fitness and health while decreasing the risk of injury. The fitness center also has a turf area for short sprints, cardio, and individual training.

The McGowan Family Athletic Center is home to 27 teams playing 13 different sports with seasons in the fall, winter, and spring. More than 85 percent of Oakcrest students participate in the athletics program. Oakcrest offers multiple levels of each sport - Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball - which allows athletes of all abilities to participate in its program.

On May 2, 2023, Oakcrest held its very first pep rally in the new space, bringing together many of the project's key figures, including Brian and Dorothy McGowan, with an excited student body and faculty and staff.

Groundbreaking

On June 4, 2021, Oakcrest broke ground on the McGowan Family Athletic Center, bringing an additional 25,000 square feet of beautiful athletic facilities and academic classrooms that provide space and resources as Oakcrest continues to grow.
