Oakcrest School Upper School Theatre to perform "You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown"

Oakcrest School is pleased to announce the Upper School Theatre production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Performances will take place on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 pm at Ernst Theater, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22033.

The musical follows the story of Charlie Brown and his friends, as seen in the famous comic strip, Peanuts, by cartoonist Charles Schulz. Through captivating dance and song, Charlie and his friends discover what it truly means to be a “good man”.

“There’s something very charming about Charlie Brown that we all recognize in ourselves,” said Dr. Kristin O’Malley Ricci, Oakcrest Visual and Performing Arts Master Teacher and Theatre Director. “The characters are meditating on the small ups and downs of daily life and we all recognize those moments. Many of the plays that we have done in the past address big moments, both historical and personal, but Charlie Brown asks us to reflect on the small moments in our lives that also form us.”

Alongside Dr. Ricci, a strong production team of seasoned Oakcrest teachers are working to guide the students as they bring Charlie Brown to life: Music Director Sarah Wilcox, Tech Director Elisa Torres, and Choreographer Dr. Kat Hussmann. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown includes performances from 22 students, as well as a strong crew of 41 students working behind the scenes in various capacities.

Charlie Brown offers significant opportunities for our Upper School students to work and grow as an ensemble,” Dr. Ricci said. “The show is going very well. Our ensemble is doing a phenomenal job with acting, singing, and dancing, as well as helping with many other tasks to prepare for the show.”
