Oakcrest School names Christie Keuchel as Interim Head of School

Oakcrest School is pleased to welcome Christie Keuchel as the Interim Head of School. Mrs. Keuchel returns to Oakcrest after serving the school community for 13 years from 2007 to 2020 in a variety of roles: Associate Head of School for Students, Director of Student Life, Director of Middle and Upper School, and Theology teacher. She is the seventh Head of School to lead Oakcrest.
“I am particularly enthused about returning to Oakcrest to be able to share and grow with our faculty in the art of teaching and learning,” Mrs. Keuchel said. “I look forward to imparting the Oakcrest mission, working with parents, faculty and mentors to develop the intellectual, character, faith and leadership potential of Oakcrest students.”

Mrs. Keuchel earned her Masters of Science in Educational Administration from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. She also holds a New York State Teacher Certification.

“This coming school year, along with each new year, is filled with hope for the many ways our students will grow intellectually and in all aspects of our Oakcrest mission,” she said. “I look forward to welcoming all of our new, returning students and our Senior class, the Class of 2024. The opening days of school provide an important opportunity for introductions along with meaningful conversations and connections with our parents, faculty, staff and students.”

With more than 20 years as a teacher, mentor, and administrator in schools, Mrs. Keuchel is passionate about helping girls grow into young women of virtue who are equipped to positively impact their families and communities.

Michele (Casey ‘99) Bueno, president of the Oakcrest Board of Directors, announced the appointment of Mrs. Keuchel as Interim Head of School saying, “We have confidence in the depth of Christie’s experience and her steady hand.”

“She understands that the goal of an Oakcrest education is to assist parents in developing their daughter’s faith and leadership potential,” Mrs. Bueno said. “She will work to strengthen our rich academic program while ensuring both continuity and a fresh approach to the implementation of Oakcrest’s mission and core principles. She is deeply committed to supporting our families and our outstanding faculty and staff.”
