Oakcrest Parenting Seminar Will Share Vision of Academic Success

On Saturday, November 23 at 7:00 pm, Oakcrest School will hold an event for parents entitled “The Path to Academic Success.” Faculty will share Oakcrest’s vision of academic success, and parents will leave with a renewed vision of their role in their daughter’s academic flourishing. The panel is part of Oakcrest’s Adventures in Parenting series.

The event will feature Head of School Dr. Mary T. Ortiz; Dean of Faculty & Curriculum Elizabeth Black; history teacher Virginia Boles; Dean of Students Meghan Hadley (‘06); and science teacher Dr. Kat Hussmann.

Director of Parent Support Terri Collins believes the event will be a rich and insightful experience for parents. “Each of our panelists has an interior spark for her own discipline which opens the door of wonder for her students,” she says. “We will have a lively exchange about what we mean by academic success. Attendees will hear about how to instill in their children the joy of learning through a balanced approach of study, order and positive initiative.”

Adventures in Parenting is an annual event hosted by Oakcrest’s Parent Support Office that provides parents with an opportunity for reflection on a variety of parenting topics. Past speakers have included Immaculée Ilibagiza, Dr. Leonard Sax, and Dr. Carmel Kelly.

Parent partnership is foundational to the mission and philosophy of Oakcrest School. We are committed to supporting parents as the primary educators of their daughters. By offering continuing education programs for parents, we assist parents in their noble mission of forming their daughters to be passionate, confident, empathetic and service-oriented leaders.

This event is open to all parents, and registration is now open.
