Oakcrest Students Join Camino Summer Program in Spain

To kick off the summer, a group of Oakcrest students have embarked on an unforgettable journey along the historic Camino de Santiago as part of the University of Navarra’s Find Your Way: Walk the Camino summer program. Over the course of three weeks, they’ll walk six stages of the Camino, live with local host families, and immerse themselves in the rich academic, cultural, and spiritual life of Spain.

Hosted by UNAV’s Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, the program combines daily liberal arts seminars, Spanish language study, and hands-on workshops in art and archaeology with daily Mass and moments of reflection. It’s a true integration of intellect and spirit—an experience that echoes Oakcrest’s own mission of forming the whole person.

At the heart of the experience is the pilgrimage: six key walking stages along the Camino de Santiago, beginning in Roncesvalles and passing through Pamplona to Logroño. Along the way, students reflect, pray, and experience the landscape and heritage that have shaped centuries of Catholic pilgrimage.

This opportunity reflects Oakcrest’s growing commitment to international formation in  an effort to educate the whole woman—in and outside the classroom, even beyond her comfort zones. By stepping into new cultures, encountering the universal Church, and expanding their vision of the world, our students become more than accomplished learners—they grow into experienced, well-versed leaders. While the path they walk is centuries old, the perspectives they gain are as relevant and formative as ever.

Stay tuned for more updates when the pilgrims return!
