Cross Country Coaches
An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, Oakcrest School was founded in 1976 and is located in Vienna, Virginia, 17 miles west of Washington, D.C. Oakcrest students come from all over the DMV, and our students and families as well as our faculty and staff are noted for their deep commitment to the school’s mission.
Oakcrest seeks Assistant Coaches for Varsity Cross Country and Track teams. Cross Country preseason tryouts and practices will be held in the mornings during the weeks of August 18 and August 26. Assistant coaches will work with the head coach to run practices. Practices move to after school starting September 2 and run through November 6, 2026, between 3:15-6:00 pm starting. Meet days will require a greater time commitment including weekend availability. The ideal candidate would be interested in also coaching Indoor Track & Field (November 11- February 20, 2026) and Outdoor Track & Field (March 2 - May 20, 2026).
Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for all aspects of the varsity team, including both organizing and supervising games and practices as well as uniform and equipment management

Assess player’s skills, monitor players during competition and practice and provide guidance for players to improve

Instill the values of respect, team spirit, teamwork, and dedication

Improve skills, confidence, and commitment in all athletes

Communicate personal and program expectations to team and to individual players.
Experience Requirements:

Prior playing and coaching experience

An understanding of the rules and regulations of the game

Knowledge of effective skills and strategies that contribute to team growth and success

CPR and First Aid Certification (may complete upon hiring)
Preferred Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree

Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a large van
