Denise has been a member of the Oakcrest Parents Association since 2019 when she became Vice Chair. She continued in that role until the 2021-2022 school year, when she stepped up to lead OPA as the Chair, a position she still holds today.

Whenever there is a need, Denise is ready to serve the school. She not only volunteers her time, but is often integral to the planning process especially for two of our major family events each year: the Founders Day Mass and Dinner and the Advent Mass and Dinner.

Denise has lent her organizational and decorative talents to the Patrons of the Arts Reception for several years, the Staculty Luncheon, and the Junior Ring Ceremony. She has a welcoming smile and friendly word for all whether as an usher at Graduation, or while serving tea to a new parent at the monthly Tea and Talk presentations or mingling with moms at the Fireside Fellowship for Mothers.

Chrissy has served as a parent ambassador for the past six years, sharing her Oakcrest experience with prospective parents at Admissions events and welcoming them into the Oakcrest community.

She joined the board of the Oakcrest Parent Association in 2018 and served as Chair of the Board for two years. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Board.

In 2019, Chrissy led the Acorn Club, which brings together both sixth grade girls and their mothers for monthly gatherings - a wonderful place to cultivate friendships between girls and between mothers during their time at Oakcrest.

Chrissy volunteers on numerous event committees and has given so much of her time, talent, and friendship to Oakcrest. She was awarded the title, Volunteer of the Year in 2022. Thank you, Chrissy!

Throughout her time at Oakcrest, Terri Collins estimates that she has commuted from her home in Silver Spring, Maryland the equivalent mileage of a cross-country drive not just once, but 19 times. Associate Head of School and Director of Parent Support are just two of the positions she has held over the past two decades at Oakcrest, including teacher, Director of Admissions, front office, development, alumnae relations, member of the Board of Directors, and mother of four Oakcrest graduates: Lucy ‘11, Helen ‘14, Audrey ‘16 Goodwin, and Jill ‘17 Burtis.

Having seen Oakcrest through so many different seasons, Mrs. Collins shared that one aspect that keeps her coming back is the dedication of each individual involved with Oakcrest to live out the “mission of the school with a lot of joy,” she said.

“I’m constantly challenged to grow as a professional, to grow in my faith, to trust in God more, and I’m inspired by everyone around me who is doing the same,” Mrs. Collins said. “It is really His school, it is not my school. But ultimately I trust in God that He will use this poor instrument in whatever way will serve best to help the girls and the students here.”

A typical day at Oakcrest for Mrs. Collins consists of connecting with parents – both on the phone and in person, aiming to get to know each Oakcrest family better.

“We work best when we are really in partnership, when we are aligned with each other and know each other well” she said. “We can tackle more difficult conversations that may come to us and hopefully work together looking at their daughter to see what would be best for her.”

And as Mrs. Collins gets to know each of the families more throughout their time at Oakcrest, she also spends significant time pulling together resources such as books or classes that will be helpful for parents, especially as the culture changes.

Her hope for each family that encounters Oakcrest is that being inspired by the teachings of the Catholic faith, they might come to know more deeply that “they are a beloved child of God,” she said. “It’s the starting point for how any of us sets goals for our daughters and for ourselves.”

“Life is a grand adventure and we really need to be very cheerful with a grand spirit, thanking God for all the little things, the little joys He gives us every day,” Mrs. Collins continued. “To treat every person with infinite respect because they are beloved children of God and they are worthy of all our love and attention. And finally, to seek to serve in whatever way we can, every single day.”

Mrs. Miller has championed Oakcrest to both new and prospective parents as a Parent Ambassador and to our generous community through the Thankathon and serving on the Annual Fund Committee.

She has played an instrumental role on the Homecoming Committee and was a planning committee member for the Founder's Day Dinner.

Mrs. Miller also has helped with the Upper School shows, especially the sets, served as a prom chaperone, and graciously offered hospitality with the Art of Living for Women. Thank you, Amy!

Mrs. Ullman is an ardent supporter of Oakcrest Theatre program, with both of her daughters involved in past productions. She and her husband have also generously served as Annual Fund Chairs.

Dr. McDonnell has been an active volunteer in many different parts of the Oakcrest community — from timing our varsity swim team, to helping with Science Olympiad, she has also been a prom chaperone.

She has served on the Oakcrest Parent Association board as treasurer, and has also helped with future Oakie families as a Parent Ambassador.

The McDonnells have decorated for the Patrons of the Arts receptions for the last 5 years and are a valued member of the Oakcrest family.

Hala spearheaded the Class of 2022 gala auction basket each year that her daughter Dima ’22 was in the class.

Her keen decorative eye and willing spirit generously has helped with flower arrangements for numerous Oakcrest occasions, including the Art of Living Workshop and Open Houses.

Jean started her first girls club in 1995! These girls clubs allow girls to do fun activities together while also learning about applying virtue to their lives, often introduced in a talk by an older student.

Girls club also combines a component of friendship and mentorship for mothers, who meet simultaneously for fellowship.

Tristan joined the OPA Board in 2018, overseeing the once-a-week special lunch program. During Covid, she led a team of Junior parents and students to deliver yard signs to congratulate the Seniors of the Class of 2020. Having served as a Room Parent for two years, Mrs. Bourdelais continues to help guide new parents and organize events to make everyone feel included in the Oakcrest Community.

In 2022, Tristan began serving as the Middle School Room Parent Coordinator on the OPA Board.

She has also served as a parent ambassador, and whenever the admissions office needs a parent ambassador to call a prospective parent, she is at the top of their list, willing and able to step up and help. Thank you, Tristan!

Mrs. White has served as a member of the Oakcrest Parent Association for several years, also serving as a room parent. Having attended most of her junior year of high school at Oakcrest, which was cut short due to a family move, Mrs. White has long-loved Oakcrest, now sharing her knowledge of all things Oakcrest with prospective parents as a parent ambassador. Mrs. White currently sits on the Oakcrest Board of Directors.
