The Veritas Fund
Supporting the mission of Oakcrest, today and for generations to come.
A School Built by Families, for Families
Oakcrest was founded in 1976 by a group of families and educators who came together to establish an independent all-girls school in Washington, DC, striving to build an institution where their daughters could thrive as they were created to be. From the beginning, parents and friends of Oakcrest have believed deeply in the education of our daughters—and have generously invested in making that education possible for generations to come.
Giving is how we build the Oakcrest we want our daughters and future young women to experience.
Invest in Our Students
Help fund the resources, athletics, arts, service, extracurricular experiences that shape an Oakcrest education.
Invest in Our Faculty
Support the professional development and the exceptional teachers and mentors who know each girl personally.
Invest in Our Community
Provide tuition assistance and access to future families that can strengthen the Oakcrest community.
The Veritas Fund
The Veritas Fund is Oakcrest’s annual fund and the primary way families and friends make direct gifts to support the school.
Gifts to the fund provide flexible support for Oakcrest’s needs and priorities each year, helping sustain the people, programs, and opportunities that shape the Oakcrest experience.
Veritas, the Latin word for truth, reflects the heart of an Oakcrest education: forming young women in the pursuit of what is good, beautiful, and true. That formation happens in the classroom and beyond it, in friendships, the arts, athletics, service, and a vibrant life of faith.
This year our target for the Veritas Fund is $575,000. Your gift reaches our girls now, and through them the culture they will go out to shape. Supporting the Veritas Fund is, in the end, the same choice that brought each of us here — to give our daughters the very best Catholic education.

More Ways to Give
There are many ways to support Oakcrest, whether through a direct donation or other forms of gifts and investments. We want to help you find an approach that works best for you and your family while also supporting the needs and priorities of our school.
If you are interested in setting up a giving strategy or exploring a particular way to give, please reach out to our Advancement team. We are happy to talk through your options and help you make it happen.

Gifts of stock offer a tax benefit in two ways. First, the donor may avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value of the stock. Second, the donor may be able to take a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock on the date of the gift, subject to applicable tax rules.
You may make a gift of stock by asking your stock broker to transfer the number of shares you would like to donate to Oakcrest.
If you have an IRA and are required to take a minimum distribution, you may be able to designate Oakcrest as the recipient of all or part of your distribution. Depending on your circumstances, this may provide a tax-efficient way to support Oakcrest while satisfying your required distribution.
It is important to designate your charity of choice before the distribution is made. Please contact the Oakcrest Advancement Office for more information.
Remembering Oakcrest in your will or living trust is a way to make a lasting contribution to the Oakcrest community. Charitable gifts made to Oakcrest in your will or during your lifetime can support future generations of Oakcrest girls while potentially providing income and/or estate tax benefits for you and your estate. To make a bequest, you may work with your attorney to include language such as:
“I give, devise and bequeath to Oakcrest School (Tax ID: 52-1182755), 1619 Crowell Rd., Vienna, VA 22182, (insert specific dollar amount, percentage, or residue of my estate) for its general use and purpose.”
As Oakcrest is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a planned gift to the school may be exempt from estate tax. Please consult your attorney or financial advisor for guidance specific to your circumstances.
Make your gift to Oakcrest go even further. Many corporations and foundations match charitable gifts from their employees, sometimes on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis.
To find out whether your employer offers a matching gift program, please contact your organization’s human resources or benefits office. If your organization requires documentation from Oakcrest, our Advancement Office is happy to assist.
Memorial gifts may be made to honor a member of the Oakcrest community or to remember a deceased loved one. This meaningful tribute helps honor their memory and values for years to come.
If you would like to make a memorial gift, please contact the Oakcrest Advancement Office.
If you receive a tax refund, you may choose to reinvest those funds in support of Oakcrest. A gift from your tax refund is one more way to invest in the students, faculty, and programs that make an Oakcrest education possible.
From time to time, Oakcrest School leadership identifies specific needs and opportunities that contribute to the intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual formation of our students.
Examples of past special projects include the purchase of instruments for our music program, beautification of our chapel, and athletic field improvements.
To learn about and support current or future special projects at Oakcrest, please contact the Advancement Office.
Charitable Gift Annuities are designed for people of retirement age or older. The income they provide is based on your age and remains fixed for life, and a portion of the income may be tax-free for a number of years.
A charitable gift annuity can provide an opportunity to make a meaningful gift to Oakcrest while receiving income for life.
