Mentoring

Every student known. Every student accompanied.

Mentoring is one of our Oakcrest distinctives, essential to who we are. Oakcrest recognizes the importance of real relationships in education, especially for young women. We believe the most meaningful learning happens in environments of trust, encouragement, and personal accompaniment.

Each student is paired with a member of faculty and staff, who provides personal mentoring throughout her time at Oakcrest.

Mentoring creates the space where students can ask questions, seek advice, celebrate successes, and navigate challenges with a trusted adult who knows them well. Mentors work closely with parents, ensuring they have yet another partner in their daughter’s formation.

As mentors challenge each student to set and reach goals for her own character development, she grows in self-mastery, learns to use her talents as gifts for others, and comes to appreciate the lifelong value of striving to become a better person.

Real Relationships

Mentoring conversations can touch on:

  • Setting realistic goals
  • Reviewing academic progress, study habits, and intellectual growth
  • Building positive friendships and relationships
  • Using time well, not just time management
  • Growing in the inner life, visiting the chapel, taking advantage of the sacraments
  • Exploring opportunities for leadership and service
In Their Words

What mentoring means at Oakcrest

“I absolutely love my mentor and it’s such a comfort knowing that I have someone I can talk to and look to as my guide throughout the ups and downs of high school.”
