Meet Our Students

Clare '25

When Clare W. ’25 entered Oakcrest in the sixth grade, she was excited to jump wholeheartedly into the Oakie community, and six years later, she has done just that.

From greeting her classmates in the hallway and seeing friends she hasn’t crossed paths with in awhile, Clare said some of her favorite parts of the day are built around fostering friendships and growing closer to one another, and to Jesus.

“To be an Oakie is so much more than attending the school, it is taking advantage of the opportunities Oakcrest gives us to grow in faith, virtue, and friendship,” she explains. “I hope to live this out by becoming a leader to others out in the world.”

Clare currently serves as Vice President of the Executive Student Council, where she enjoys spearheading the Middle School Student Council. With the opportunity to get to know several middle schoolers, Clare said she also is learning firsthand what it takes to be a good leader. “It is a lot more fun and a lot more work than I thought it would be,” she said. “But I have gotten to know people I never would have gotten to know through Student Council.”

One of her favorite classes to-date is Ms. Christine Nussio’s European History class, where Clare remembers engaging class discussions with classmates over comparing European countries and policies with those in the United States. Another notable class she mentioned is Biology with Mrs. Heather DeLisle. “I love her teaching style, personality, and sense of humor,” Clare said.

A lover of all things “school spirit,” Clare can be found on campus leading a pep rally or cheering on her peers in the hallways. One of her favorite school memories was her class taking home first place in the Spirit Week Cheer during their sophomore year, followed by placing second in their junior year.

Clare is also grateful for her mentor, Mrs. Lisa Kenna, and the entire mentoring program at Oakcrest, she said. “At Oakcrest, community and friendship are important,” she added. Through the mentoring program, students gain insights from women as they grow and discover their full potential.

Outside of Oakcrest, Clare enjoys listening to music of all types, from Classical to Pop, and spending time with her labrador retriever, Ginger.
