Freshman Accepted Into Prestigious Summer Acting Camp

Oakie Addison Duncan (‘24) has been accepted into the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.

Located in northwest Michigan, Interlochen is one of the nation’s most prestigious and competitive arts programs, hosting summer camps in music, theatre, dance, and more. Addison will be attending Interlochen’s Acting Camp for high school students.

In addition to being a very competitive program, Interlochen reduced its capacity by 50% this year due to the pandemic, making acceptance an even more impressive achievement. Addison will be spending three weeks with fellow campers working on acting techniques and exploring both scripted scene work and improvisational style. She will practice acting in front of a camera as well as onstage work.

Addison has been acting in Oakcrest theatre productions since she joined the school in sixth grade. Her many roles have included Violet in The Boxcar Children; Junie B. Jones in Junie B. Jones, The Musical, Jr.; and, most recently, Ismene in Antigone. She is also a regular competitor in Oakcrest’s annual Shakespeare Monologue Competition, winning first place in the Middle School division in 2017 and 2018 and first place in the Upper School division in 2020.
