Upper School Presents James and the Giant Peach

Oakcrest’s Upper School students will bring James and the Giant Peach to life on stage the weekend of February 21-22. The musical, based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel, is a growing-up tale complete with zany aunts, enormous fruit, and human-sized bugs.

The production is directed by theatre teacher Dr. Kristin O’Malley and stars Meghan Meehan (‘20), Elizabeth Eckel (‘21), Katiebell Thompson (‘21), Devon Bogucki (‘21), Sophia Eckel (‘23), Meredith Klote (‘22), Grace McGovern (‘21), Elizabeth Crishock (‘20), and Claire McLaughlin (‘21). The musical features music written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman).

James goes to live with his two horrible aunts and, thanks to a magical spell, ends up inside a gigantic peach with four insects. The group forms tight bonds and learns how to live and work together as a community, but they have big challenges to overcome when the peach rolls into the ocean and takes them far from home.

Performances are Friday, February 21 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 am and 7:30 pm at Holy Trinity Church in McLean. Tickets are available now.

Oakcrest’s Patrons of the Arts reception will be held before the show on Friday, February 21 at 6:15 pm at Holy Trinity Church. Each year, in honor and recognition of the amazing talents of our theatre students and teachers, we host Patrons of the Arts receptions on opening night of theatre productions. Through various sponsorships opportunities, the goal of the Patrons of the Arts reception is to raise funds to benefit the theatre arts program at Oakcrest. Sponsorships grant you priority seating on opening night, and provide a chance to  enjoy a pre-show reception with fellow patrons in support of a great cause. You can purchase a Patrons sponsorship here
