Oakies Continue Strong Fall Season at DCXC Meet

Oakcrest’s Athletics is continuing a strong fall season. The Cross Country teams made impressive showings at the DCXC Meet in Washington, DC on September 28. The Middle School team placed 7 out of 17 teams.

Chargers medaled in the high school division as well, with Ashley Schroeder (‘22) placing seventh in the freshman/sophomore category and Hanna Lu (‘21) and Emma Myers (‘20) taking third and fourth place respectively in the junior/senior race.

DCXC is a large meet with hundreds of participating athletes in the Middle School and Varsity races. “Our middle schoolers were unintimidated by the size of this meet,” says Head Cross Country Coach Elizabeth Long. “Each athlete finished in 15 minutes or below, which was a goal going into the race, and had exceptional kicks at the end.” Coach Long was also pleased with the results of the Upper School team. She notes, “Each of our high schoolers gave a tremendous effort in the grueling heat with no shade along the course.”

Oakcrest School offers 19 different sports, and 86% of students participate in Oakcrest athletics. We welcome all levels of athletes, from the beginner to the well-seasoned player. Learn more about our strong athletic program here
