Oakcrest Theatre Teacher To Star in “The Importance of Being Earnest”

Oakcrest theatre teacher Camille Pozderac will star in Silver Spring Stage’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest, running May 17 – June 8, 2019.

Camille will play Cecily Cardew, a young woman set on the idea of marrying a man with the name of Ernest. Oscar Wilde’s classic piece of comedic theatre follows the madcap story of bachelor friends Jack and Algernon, both of whom fall for women who love the name Ernest. Hilarity ensues as each man tries to win his lady’s heart, all the while pretending to be someone he is not.

Camille has a B.A. in Journalism and Theatre Studies and an M.F.A. in Acting. In 2014 she received the Award for Excellence in Creativity, Theatre Department, The Ohio State University and a department award for production of her one-act play, Southern Cross the Dog. Camille has trained with the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Stand Up for Shakespeare Program in Stratford-upon-Avon, 2013. She is also trained in and practitioner of the Hunter Heartbeat Method, Shakespeare drama intervention designed for children on the autism spectrum. In addition to teaching theatre and public speaking classes at Oakcrest, Camille directs the school’s annual Middle and Upper School productions.

Silver Spring Stage is a community theatre with a mission to present the best in contemporary plays. The Stage produces a season of seven full-length productions plus a one-act festival and a winter holiday show.
