May 21: Track & Field
The Oakcrest Varsity Track & Field team finished in 5th place out of 22 teams at the VISAA State Championships on Friday, May 21. The 4x800 team started the meet off by winning the event—congratulations to state champions: Hannah, Maria, Molly Grace and Regina!
The team MVP, Vivian, had an incredible meet. She broke the 3200 school record and placed 2nd with a time of 11:47.92. She also placed 3rd in the 1600 in 5:24.
Catherine scored points for the team by placing 7th in the 100m dash (13.44- PR) and the 200m (28.04 - PR).
Charlotte completed her season by placing 5th in the high jump and leading the 4x400 (also with Teri, Maria and Regina) to a 7th place finish.
The 4x100 meter relay, with Kateri, Bianca, Catherine and Sofia, had an excellent run. Thanks to a heroic fall-to-the-finish by Sofia they brought home silver and just edged out the third place team.
Lastly, Rima had a successful day and scored 8 huge points for the team, coming in second place in the discus throw.
