Oakcrest School in partnership with parents challenges girls in grades 6-12 to develop their intellect, character, faith and leadership potential to succeed in college and throughout their lives.
Philosophy
Oakcrest, an independent school, educates the whole person. Inspired by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, we weave together a rich liberal arts curriculum, character development, one-on-one advising and service to create a vibrant environment that graduates confident young women—young women who will make a difference in all they choose to do.

As an independent school, Oakcrest weaves together a rich liberal arts curriculum, character development, one-on-one advising and service to educate the whole person. Inspired by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, Oakcrest guides each student to reach for excellence in all she does.
Opus Dei, a personal Prelature of the Catholic Church, provides guidance for the doctrinal and spiritual formation offered at Oakcrest. Latin for “Work of God”, Opus Dei puts forth the message that one’s everyday endeavors are opportunities to grow closer to God, to serve others and to improve society. At Oakcrest, this spirit promotes a commitment to academic excellence and Christian values, and an environment where girls make a difference – at school, at home and in the world at large.
- What does an Oakcrest education cost? Hide
Tuition for 2007-2008 Middle School is $13,383 and $14,533 for Upper School. Making an Oakcrest education available to as many deserving students as possible is important to the School. Tuition assistance is available and is awarded annually based upon need. The deadline to apply for tuition assistance is February 15, 2008.

Our graduates have a 100% college acceptance rate. Our full-time college counselor helps students and families navigate the college search, selection and application process from start to finish. Because each student is unique, this process is different for every family.
- How does the advisory program work in the Middle and Upper Schools? Hide
In partnership with parents, advisors regularly meet one-on-one with students – additionally, girls can seek out advisors for advice and encouragement in academics, friendships and service to others.

Oakcrest is a day school for girls in grades 6-12. School hours are 7:50 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students are welcome to be in the school building during our front office hours, which are from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Certain after-school activities extend beyond the office hours.

Oakcrest is conveniently located at I-495 (Capital Beltway) and Georgetown Pike, the first exit (#44) on the Virginia side of the American Legion Bridge. Our address is 850 Balls Hill Road, McLean, Virginia. Oakcrest families are scattered throughout the metropolitan D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland area. Many parents form carpools together once enrolled in the school.
